AABD Mission Statement

AABD's mission is to provide bank and savings institution directors the resources with which to serve their institutions effectively and in a manner that will minimize risk of personal liability, and to represent their interests before federal and state legislative bodies, banking supervisory agencies and judicial bodies.

AABD accomplishes its mission of providing resources to bank and savings institution directors by maintaining a portal on the Internet especially designed for bank and savings institution directors; acting as a clearinghouse for seminars, courses, books, studies and periodicals pertaining to the role of financial institution directors; arranging for opportunities for bank and savings institution directors to network, including an annual convention and the development of local chapters of AABD; arranging for directors' access to experts in various banking-related subjects; maintaining AABD Committees which will allow directors to communicate and share ideas with other members of each committee; and providing many of the resources at discounted rates.

AABD represents the interests of bank and savings institution directors before legislative, executive and judicial bodies by testimony, comment letters, correspondence, meetings and other forums in order to advance the cause of eliminating personal liability for damages resulting from events that are beyond the control of directors and for acts of simple negligence. In addition, AABD seeks to minimize bank supervisory and statutory limitations on the authority of Boards of Directors to supervise their institutions.
