AABD's Hot Line is designed to allow AABD members to:
- Report what they consider to be federal and state banking agency regulatory excesses
affecting them or their banks;
- Request guidance on subjects such as conflicts of interest, regulatory compliance,
duties and responsibilities of a bank director, and insider transactions; and
- Request current information on regulatory legislative or statutory developments.
The Hot Line also allows us to act as a clearinghouse for examples of bank regulatory
excesses. One of AABD's missions is to identify excesses in order to address them through
lobbying Congress and communicating with the federal and state banking agencies through
the rule-making process and otherwise.
AABD has infrequently interneved in court cases through the filing of an amicus
brief on matters that have importance to back directors as a whole, but currently does not
act as an advocate for individual directors before a court of law or banking agency.
