AABD Helps Establish Effective Business Development Programs for Board Members

AABD has announced that it will assist AABD members and other bank directors to establish effective business development programs for bank board members.

The assistance can take several forms.  Personalized board presentations, conversations with board members, submission of written materials and reports, and use of questionnaires to establish certain benchmarks are among the services that AABD can provide.

Board members can play an instrumental role in referring business to their banks.   But many boards have not applied a systematic approach to developing an effective business development program.  AABD can help bank boards focus on strategies that can work.

David Baris, AABD's Executive Director, recently prepared a list of Do's and Don'ts for bank board members in business development efforts.  These were prepared for the ABA Bank Director Briefing dated February 2008.  Free copies of the ABA Bank Director Briefing, which summarizes an interview on the subject with David Baris, are available from AABD by calling 301-263-9841 or emailing AABD at info@aabd.org.

Bank boards who would like AABD's staff and consultants to assist them in formulating a systematic business development program for bank directors may also contact AABD by calling 301-263-9841 or emailing AABD at bpelton@aabd.org.
