Top 10 Reasons to Become an AABD Member...
membership "Serving Bank Directors since 1989"

  1. FOCUS — The American Association of Bank Directors is the only national trade group that focuses exclusively on the issues, challenges, and opportunities facing bank and savings institution directors.
  2. EDUCATION — Through its affiliate, the Institute for Bank Director Education, AABD members have access to a national clearinghouse for director-specific training and continuing education programs. IBDE also offers programs designed to help outside directors continue to be fully cognizant of their duties, responsibilities, and to effectively control their risks.
  3. EDUCATION CERTIFICATION AND D&O INSURANCE — AABD assists banks and savings institutions whose directors have completed the director education certification program to seek discounts and/or better coverage on their D & O insurance.
  4. ADVOCACY — AABD serves the advocacy needs of its members by representing the interests of financial institution directors before the U.S. Congress, state and federal bank regulators and other agencies that affect the financial services industry.
  5. ACCESS — AABD staff is readily available to respond to director inquiries on a wide range of issues. A "hot line" is available for those time-sensitive matters.
  6. INFORMATION — A periodic newsletter, regulatory and legislative alerts, "hot topic" booklets and other publications written in plain English are part of AABD membership. Members also receive the results of the periodic Surveys of Financial Institution Boards of Directors and articles written by AABD staff for national and regional publications.
  7. CONFIDENTIALITY — The AABD membership list is not for sale or distribution. Member questions and information requests are accorded a high level of confidentiality.
  8. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS — AABD serves the needs of individual directors. Typically the entire Board joins—at one low price—but AABD also has individual memberships on some Boards, and is particularly sensitive to the needs of "outside" directors (those not employed by the bank).
  9. STAFF RESOURCES — AABD maintains a National Capital office staffed by experienced, dedicated professionals. An active Board of Advisors reflects the diversity of the financial services industry and Issues Advisors keep members up-to-date on critical topics of concern to directors.
  10. PRICE — $695 for the entire Board (or $295 per individual) brings a wealth of information and access to resources for each director personally.
